  Originally founded as the Department of Modern Applied Techniques in 2001, the school has developed and grown rapidly and is now one of the major schools
of the university. With the rapid development of manufacturing based industry in the Ningbo district, the demand for individuals with skills in this discipline has burgeoned. The School follows the mandate of the university by satisfying the needs and demands of industry and overall social development of the region.

  The School has developed close ties with local industry and can offer several work experience opportunities. This relationship facilitates the ^Practice Theory Practice ̄educational model practiced by the teaching professionals of the School, and results in students obtaining a strong practical operational capability with the relevant underlying theoretical knowledge. The modern and well-equipped laboratories and workshops provide and environment for hands-on ducation.
^Clear Training Aims, Multiple Training Modes and Specialized Training ̄ are the guiding principles of the School.

  At present, the School offers both two and three year diplomas and graduates from the School have been well received by the business community. Their quality,professional competence, development potential and career achievements have been outstanding and noted. In September 2008, the School will commence
a four year graduate program.
